Seams to Be Quilts Bi-Monthly UpdatesMark your calendars for the weekend of Aug., 21- 22, 2010 Lynne Hagmeier from Kansas Troubles Quilters will be here are Seams To Be to help us celebrate our 5th Anniversary. Lynn will be doing a trunk show on Sat. and a class on Sun. More later - what a great opportunity to meet a super talented designer and teacher. Quilting changes everything--I am really excited about the Million Pillowcase Challenge sponsored by American Patchwork and quilting. The magazine is challenging quilter all over the country to make and donate 1,000, 000 pillowcases. I know that many of you are already involved with Linus or some other charity of your choice and I encourage you to continue, but could you make time to do a pillowcase? We will have $ 5.00 kits cut and ready for you to pick up starting Jan. 2, bring the finished pillowcase back and get your “1 in a Million” button and we will display your pillowcase for a week or so before we donate it. Don’t you think we can donate several thousand? I just checked the website and over 3,000 pillowcases have already been donated. I’m keeping my goal number a secret to see if we can hit it. Our first MPC event will be Sun. Feb. 7 - Super Bowl Sunday from 10:00-5:00. Come for an hour or the whole day. Food, Fun and a great cause. Please call to reserve a space - we want to make sure we have enough chairs and food. Yes, we will be doing the UFO challenge again next year - Seams To Be is giving you a little incentive to finish up to six projects that are not started or barely started. Bring your projects in and resister them. We collect the $ 2.00 fee (all of this money will be awarded as gift certificates at the celebration in early 2011). When you finish your project, bring it in and you get a free fat quarter and an opportunity to register for the gift certificates. (To be counted as finished the quilt must be quilted and bound by Oct. 1, after that date we will accept just the finished top.) We had lots of projects finished in 2009. Quilter’s –do you consider rotary cutting exercise? Does fabric shopping raise your heart rate? Come join the Seams To Be Quilting Football League - it has nothing to do with football!! Our team will be about quilting, fabric shopping, road tripping and fun!!!! What is QFL? It’s a national quilting program that combines the fun of a 5 month Shop Hop, the activities of a club program and incentives to visit participating quilt shops. Join our team and you get an opportunity to register online to win national prizes, log in as player for free patterns, recipes and quilting games. You will get “Traveling papers” that will make you eligible for discounts at other participating shops. My team will be eligible to win 100 Fat Quarters, 15 + free patterns, QFL Players discounts, and travel incentives. The program will run from April- August. Our first team meeting will be Mon. night April 5, at 6:00. Be thinking about a team mascot and team colors. (I know earlier I said this has nothing to do with football, but the row by row football pattern and some of the other sports related patterns are worth the $ 20.00 by themselves!!!!) Check out the website www.teamqfl.com. What an opportunity to plan your vacation around participating shops. Just for future reference, if the Plattsmouth Schools are closed due to bad weather, Seams To Be will be closed. If in doubt, or on Christmas break or weekends, call us at 296-3360. Cross the Border Bus Trip---the weather and company will be great for our Bus Trip to
