Seams to Be Classes


Unless otherwise noted, you will need to bring a sewing machine. Make sure it is in good working order and that you know how to use it. You will also need a basic sewing kit ( rotary cutter, scissors, ruler, extra sewing machine needles, pencil, thread, pins, etc.) Let us know if you are purchasing supplies for a class and you will receive a 20% discount.



Class Policy
Reservations are required for all classes. Payment is required at the time of registration. Refunds will be given for cancellations up to 48 hours in advance of the class. Make sure your machine is in good working order with all necessary attachments. Please mark all tools and personal property that you bring to class. Arrive for class 10 minutes before your class starts and check in at the register before going back to the classroom.

Please make your purchases for a class in advance of the class time unless otherwise indicated. You will receive a 20% on all class supplies purchased at Seams To Be.

DO NOT bring children or guests to class, we have limited space. Please turn off your cell phones or put them on vibrate; if you must answer the call, please leave the classroom area until you are finished with your conversation.

Classes


Beginning Piecing Class

Learn the basics of rotary cutting, accurate seam allowances, sashing, corner stones and borders while making this 9-patch quilt. This class is great for a beginner or a quilter with a little bit of experience that needs a refresher.

Old Bag Night

If you don't know about "Old Bag Night" it is a chance to bring an unfinished project that might be stashed somewhere in and old bag, and bring it to the shop to work on it. There is food and friends and several hours to work on whatever you want. It's great fun. Call to make a reservation. 402-296-3360.

Raspberry Limeade

This class combines foundation piecing and appliqué. Class time will be primarily spent on foundation piecing the Star flower blocks for the quilt. If you saw Peg at the Omaha playhouse demoing a foundation piecing method, this is the class!! With this method of foundation piecing, you do not stitch through the paper.

Star Gazing (Scrap Therapy Class)

Perfect for an evening under the stars! Make this twin –sized quilt in a two color version, consider team colors, patriotic or holiday. The other option is to make it really scrappy! Use tons and tons of medium and small scrap squares!

April Scrap Therapy Cutting Party

Bring your scraps by the bin, bag or truckload and we will help you pick fabric that best suits the next Scrap Therapy class and cut the sizes you need to be ready for the class. You even get a storage container to store your cut fabric in!

Scrappy Trails (Scrap Therapy Class)

This elegant lap-sized quilt was inspired by a 1860’s quilt in red and white. Try your hand at this scrappy version, make two big blocks at a time. Add a scrappy prairie point binding for a one-of-a-kind quilt.

Intermediate Quilting Class

If you have a little quilting experience, but want to move onto the next level, this is the class for you. We will be using Alex Anderson’s book “Start Quilting”, which will help you learn to make a double ninepatch, half square triangles, flying geese, and log cabin blocks. What an opportunity to grow as a quilter.

Tatting

This “old” art form uses thread and a shuttle to create intricate patterns—did you know there are only 2 stitches used in tatting ?! You will learn the basics while creating a wreath or a book mark.
