SEAMS TO BE

June Thru August 2008 Class Schedule

Beginning Piecing-Mon. nights 6:30-9:00, June 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 and July 14 or July 28, Aug. 4, 11, 18, 25, and Sept. 8. This is the class for Beginners. Learn the basics of rotary cutting, accurate seam allowances, sashing, corner stones, and borders while making a 9-patch quilt. Basic machine quilting and binding will be covered. You don't need to bring anything to the first class-we'll help you pick out fabric that night. Cost $60.00 + supplies (You will need a walking foot for your machine) Teacher: Kathy

Bear Paw Runner-June7, 10;30-3;00. This is the second quarter Thimbleberries project-it comes in two color ways, brown and blue. The runner is 24 x 52 and features a square in a square with the Bear Paw Block. We have it kitted for 49.99 Includes the pattern and backing. Class $20.00. Teacher: Kathy

It's a Wrap-Sat June 28 9:00-3:00. What a super simple way to make fabric purses, baskets and bowls, that would be great for Christmas presents. The cost covers everything but your fabric strips( you will need lots of ¾- strips), lunch .and a sewing machine that zig-zags. Cost $45.00 Teacher: Kathy

Streamlined Appliqué -Sat. July 12 8:00-4:00. This class teaches a truly new method of appliqué. It is the quickest, easiest, almost precise method available. There is no glue or needle turning involved, but the end result is smooth curves and circles. It can be finished by machine or by hand. Bring a sack lunch. Cost 45.00 + supplies. Disappearing Nine Patch.-Sat. July 19, 10:30-4:00. What a great way to use up your stash (this method will work with any size squares). 6 in square will be used for this class, if you precut your fabric, you will fly through this project, you need both light and dark squares, it can be completely scrappy or more controlled. Tee Shirt Class-Sat. Aug 2, 10:30-4:00 Tee shirt Quilts make great gifts and are a lasting way to preserve great memories. This is a working class so come prepared to assemble your whole quilt top. You will need 9-25 clean tee shirts or sweat shirts washed without fabric softeners, ½ yard of featherweight or lightweight fusible interfacing per shirt (more if the tees are XL ), and a rotary cutter. Seams To Be is offering something new this summer-Kids Camp and Beginning Sewing classes Kids camp for kids (8-12) will offer 3 sessions, July 14-18, July 21-25 and July 28 - Aug. 1, from 1:00-4:00 Kids will lean the basics of sewing and make a pillow , pajama pants and a bonus project. All supplies are included-we will even furnish the sewing machine if you need one. Cost $90.00 limit 4. Teacher: Lanea

Beginning Sewing classes. 3 short independent classes will be offered in July:

1. Sewing Machine got you baffled-Tuesday July 1 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. We will help you learn to thread and operate you machine. Bring your machine and the manual if you have it. Cost $15.00 Teacher: Joann

2. Pillow Case class-Tuesday July 8, 6:00- 8:00 p.m. This is a simple project that you can complete in class-you will need approximately 1 yard of fabric , thread, scissors, and a sewing machine-if you don't have a machine , we have one you can use. Cost $15.00 Teacher: Joann

3. Pajama Pants class-Tuesday July 15, 6:00-9:00 p.m. This class will help you learn a little about garment construction-- Pattern has multiple sizes. Cost $15.00 Teacher: Joann

Parent Child class- Sun. afternoon Aug.3 & 10 from 1:30-4:00 A last chance to bond before school starts. You will make a simple pillow and learn the basics of sewing in the process. We will provide all the supplies even the machines if you need one. Kids must be 9 or older. Cost $20.00

Senility Prayer God grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway, the good fortune to run into the ones that I do, and the eyesight to tell the difference.

Seams Specialty Saturdays Several Saturdays scattered throughout the summer that give you the opportunity to work on projects and learn some new techniques. Less formal than a class, but you will still need to reserve a spot.

Basic Embroidery Stitches - Sat. June 14. 9:00-4:00 Come sew for 9 uninterrupted hours-a great one day get away. Kathy will be available to answer question and offer suggestions if you get stuck. She will be demoing basic embroidery stitches through out the day. Bring basic sewing supplies, your machine and a sack lunch. There will be door prizes and other goodies. Cost $10.00 for the whole day. Limit 10

Magic of Fusing -Sat. June 21, 9:00-4:00 If the mention of Wonder Under or Steam a Seam makes your eyes glaze over-come and we'll take the mystery out of the sticky stuff.. If you have a fusing project started this would be a great time to finish it. Seven hours of fun!!!!! Cost $10.00. Teacher: Kathy

Declare Your Freedom-Sat. July 5, 9:00-4:00. Bring a UFO from shop hop, your stash of UFO's or one of your "I Need to get this finished" challenge .Bring all your supplies. Kathy will be in the classroom to assist you. Cost $10.00

Better Borders-Sat July 28, 9:00- 4:00 Do your borders wave at you? Come and learn how to prevent this as well as learn to miter your border seams and borders. Bring your machine, basic supplies, a UFO to finish and a sack lunch. Cost $10.00 Teacher: Kathy

Open Sew Therapy Session-Sat Aug. 9, 10:30-4:00 Bring your stuff, a sack lunch and sew. Cost $10.00.

Binding Help-Sat Aug. 16, 9;00-1:00 (Note change of description and cost) Having trouble with your binding? Bring your project and let a pro help you. Cost $10.00 Teacher: Rebecca (Rebecca will be doing her binding class in the Fall. If you are a beginner register for that class.)

Tools and Tricks-Sat Aug. 23 9:00-4:00 All of the Seams To Be Staff will be sharing their favorite tools and "secrets" for better quilting. Bring a project to work on, all your supplies, and a sack lunch Cost $10.00


Classes at SEAMS TO BE
Unless otherwise noted, you will need to bring a sewing machine. Make sure it is in good working order and that you know how to use it. You will also need a basic sewing kit ( rotary cutter, scissors, ruler, extra sewing machine needles, pencil, thread, pins, etc.) Let us know if you are purchasing supplies for a class and you will receive a 20% discount.


Class Policy- Reservations are required for all classes. Payment is required at the time of registration. Refunds will be given for on cancellations up to 48 hours in advance of the class. Make sure your machine is in good working order with all necessary attachments. Please mark all tools and personal property that you bring to class. Arrive for class 10 minutes before your class starts and check in at the register before going back to the classroom. Please make your purchases for a class in advance of the class time unless otherwise indicated. You will receive a 20% on all class supplies purchased at Seams To Be. DO NOT bring children or guests to class, we have limited space. Please turn off your cell phones or put them on vibrate; if you must answer the call, please leave the classroom area until you are finished with your conversation.
