Seams to Be Classes

Here is our list of current classes. If you are interested in signing up please give us a call at (402)296-3360 and we will be happy to reserve a seat for you.

Unless otherwise noted, you will need to bring a sewing machine. Make sure it is in good working order and that you know how to use it. You will also need a basic sewing kit ( rotary cutter, scissors, ruler, extra sewing machine needles, pencil, thread, pins, etc.) You will receive a 20% discount on supplies purchased from Seams To Be for your class.

Class Policy
Reservations are required for all classes. Payment is required at the time of registration. Refunds will be given for cancellations up to 48 hours in advance of the class. Make sure your machine is in good working order with all necessary attachments. Please mark all tools and personal property that you bring to class. Arrive for class 10 minutes before your class starts and check in at the register before going back to the classroom.

Please make your purchases for a class in advance of the class time unless otherwise indicated.

DO NOT bring children or guests to class, we have limited space. Please turn off your cell phones or put them on vibrate; if you must answer the call, please leave the classroom area until you are finished with your conversation.

Classes

Lone Star - Sat. Jan 28th, 10:30 - 4:30. A modern twist on this traditional pattern. Quilt Smart has come up with fusible interfacing that eliminates cutting diamonds, and dealing with bias edges. I will guarantee you that your corners with match. It’s really a fun class.

Teacher : Kathy. Cost 20.00 plus interfacing pack.

Beginning Piecing – Sun. Jan. 29^th, Feb. 5^th, 12^th, 19^th, Mar. 4^th and 11^th. 1:30 - 4:30. We are changing the format of the class to include more techniques and blocks. You will learn accurate cutting, measuring, and piecing techniques. Some of the blocks you will be making are Log Cabin, Churn Dash, and Pinwheel. Cost $45.00 + cost of the book and supplies.(Quilting 101 is required) Teacher: Kathy

Cutting Party (Scrap Therapy) - Thur. Feb. 2^nd , 6:00 - 9:00. Come prepared to get your scraps organized. Kathy will explain the theory behind Scrap Therapy and you will start cutting your scraps into manageable and storable pieces. You must attend a cutting party before you take a “Scrap Therapy” class. Cost $10.00.

Runaway Threads – Sat. Feb. 4^th, 1:30-4:30. This is the quilt with the spools in it. What an attractive way to use up lots of scraps and learn a couple of new techniques. It is a cheerful study in contrasts. The result is a stunning lap size quilt for anyone who enjoys thread and sewing. Cost $15.00 + “Cut the Scraps” Book or individual pattern for Runaway Threads. Embroidery Stitches Class - Sat. Feb. 11^th, 10:30 - 12:30. Learn the basic embroidery stitches and get lots of hints to make your stitchery more fun. Transfer methods will be discussed. Cost $10.00 Supplies 6 inch hoop and scissors. Teacher: Kathy

Bag Class – Sat. Feb. 18^th, 10:30 - 3:30. More details on the pattern etc. later. Cost $15.00 + pattern and supplies. Teacher: Kathy

Dying Class – Sat. Mar. 10^th, Come anytime between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 pm. Experiment with all natural fruits, vegetables, spices, etc. to create a one-of-a-kind hand dyed silk scarf. It only takes a few minutes and it is so fun to “play with your food”. What a great way to make unique Mother’s Day or Graduation gifts. Cost is $10.00 for the basic scarf, $13.00 for the embossed. Cutting Party (Scrap Therapy) - Thur. April 12^th 6:00 - 9:00 See description above.

Tulip Patches – Sat., April 14^th 10:30 - 4:30 this is a Scrap Therapy class, you must attend a cutting party before you take the class. A little bit of spring is welcome any time of year. Use your scrap fabrics to create a tulip garden full of prints or soft color solids. If you want to learn about using “fusible”, this class is for you. The pattern can be adapted to make a table runner, wallhanging or a large lap size quit. Cost $15:00 + cost of the book and supplies (pattern is in Cut the Scraps! Book) Teacher: Kathy.
